Swansboro United Methodist Church is hosting a church-wide community yard sale Saturday, April 21, 2018 from 7-11 a.m. on the church campus at 665 W. Corbett Avenue in Swansboro, N.C.
Over 10,000 items, including furniture, electronics, appliances, sports equipment, housewares, toys and more, will be for sale with all proceeds benefiting the Appalachia Service Project (ASP), the women’s shelters in Carteret & Onslow counties, and overseas mission trips.
For 16 years, church members and youth have journeyed to repair homes for Appalachian families across Kentucky, North Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia under the ASP program. You can learn more about ASP at www.asphome.org.
Swansboro UMC is committed to ending the horror of domestic violence, and forty percent of the proceeds from this event will directly support the women’s shelters in Carteret & Onslow counties.
Annually, church members volunteer to support overseas missions providing medical assistance, hygiene education and other volunteer work in several countries, including Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic and Haiti.
“The missions of our church are to worship God, love one another and serve the world. The proceeds from this event will support each of these tenets by supporting our local women’s shelters, our domestic outreach with ASP, and our international missions in Haiti and around the globe,” said Scott Dodson, senior pastor with SUMC.
“I would like to personally invite the community to join us this Saturday for this bi-annual event. From those who donated items to those who are purchasing them, everyone is helping us to help others,” said Nancy Harris, chairperson of the SUMC committee on missions and outreach.
SUMC would like to thank Bray Trailers, Carolina Clean-up, the Hem of His Garment thrift shop (White Oak Ecumenical Outreach Ministries), and all of those who donated to support this event.
